Chapter Fourteen

“Wow the men we picked to love can’t stay their ass out of trouble for nothing,” my sister said pacing back and forth inside of Haywards hospital room. I looked over at him and sighed. I was shocked when I got the call he had been shot but once they told me it wasn’t critical I began to breathe easy again. I calmed myself down and took myself to the hospital to see him. Hayward was in a club with a guy who decided to tell everyone around them how Haywards sister was fucking his cousin. I believed they said his name was Dre. Hayward told him to calm down, and words were exchanged which led to a fight then the shooting started. I was just happy the father of my child was alive. I looked at my sister and rubbed my nose. I loved her but right now I needed some alone time with Hayward there were some things that I needed to discuss with him.

“Hey, can you give us some privacy “O”?” She stopped pacing the front of his bed to look at me. I smiled at her, and she returned it. She grabbed her bag and left out of the room. The minute the door closed Hayward opened his eyes. He gave me a small smile as he licked his lips.

“Thank you, you know I hate your sister,” he said with a chuckle. I laughed because he did and I walked over to him. Tenderly I touched his face and kissed him on top of his forehead. Cheater or not he was still someone I had shared many good times together I was very relieved to know he was okay.

“I’m happy you’re okay.” Hayward took a deep breath and exhaled.

“Shit me too. How are you feeling?” I rubbed my stomach feeling pretty good.

“Okay but we need to talk.” I sat down in the chair near the bed and looked down at my hands. Hayward had still been staying with me, and we were pretty much pretending everything was good when it wasn’t. Well, I know for me it wasn’t. Because I couldn’t trust him, I had been driving myself crazy with thoughts of him cheating on me. Everything he did, I questioned.

“We need to talk about us, and I need for you to listen to me and not interrupt. Okay?” Hayward nodded, and I continued. “My sister and I have never had a father or mother for that matter that really cared. We did for ourselves and for each other because we had no choice. When I met you, I was happy. I was working and making a lot of money then you happened. Damn, I was so in love with your ass I didn’t know what to do. You were so sexy, and I couldn’t believe I had found someone that made me happy on all levels. It was like we just clicked. In my mind, I knew you were cheating. I saw you with your friends and how the women would be all on you all.
